The Start of a Decade
2020 at Old Town Books has been “a lot of work and a lot of fun”! On February 29th , we will be three
months old! So, obviously, we are still learning about all things BOOKS! One of the things I love most
about this bookstore is that it is (and will always be) ever changing, ever growing. Every day brings new
ideas, new challenges, new books, new suggestions, new goals, and all this activity is what makes Old
Town Books such a vital place! Fortunately, the Old Town Books team knows how to “roll with it”; we
embrace the organic nature of this magical environment!
At the end of January, we hosted Jeremy Everett as our first guest author; he spoke about his book, “I
Was Hungry,” signed copies of his book, and visited with our guests. In February, we have hosted the
Rolling Hills Garden Club, PT Ink Book Club, and two Children’s Story Time events. The first children’s
gathering featured our own, Joe and Cindy, who read stories, led a sing song, and helped the kids with
their creations of their own “Love Monsters”! The second children’s gathering was “Literature and
Music,” featuring Ellen Myer from the San Angelo Symphony, who played her ukulele and read and sang
with the group. Each child also got a chance to play the uke!
We have big plans for March and April, and we look forward to spending time with YOU at Old Town
Books. We will send e-mails about our events (make sure you are on our e-mail list), and we will post
events on our website, Facebook, and Instagram. As much as we have enjoyed our fireplace these past
three months, we are excited about the days ahead when we can open the doors and everybody can
enjoy our beautiful patio! Hope to see you soon!
